Mixing in Veena, step by step

Play the busiest section. Drag across the ruler to loop the chorus or drop, then press Play. Hear the parts together before changing their balance.
Use each track’s fader and pan. These controls are in the console beside the timeline. Pull down a part that masks the lead; centre the kick and bass before spreading supporting parts.
Open a track’s FX. Press that track’s FX button. In the rack, press FX to choose a built-in effect from Stock FX, or VST for one of your installed effects through Veena Bridge.
Shape the part. Start with EQ for frequency balance, compression for dynamics, or reverb and delay for space. Reorder the cards by dragging; bypass one card to compare its contribution.
Open Mix & Master for a guided pass. On Parts, identify the musical role and importance of each part. Use Clean and Character when the song includes vocal parts.
Choose Genre and Space on Mix. Press AutoMix. The window minimizes into a bubble that reports progress and points at the controls the run changes.
Listen and refine. The result stays on the separate tracks. Open the bubble to return to the flow, or change a track’s fader, pan or effects directly.

Keep distortion out of the signal path

Start quietly enough that the loudest section leaves room for the next effect. If a sound becomes rough after processing, compare with the effect switched off, then lower the level entering it rather than only turning down the master. In Veena, the clip’s Control Panel, its track fader and the master controls let you follow the level from the clip to the full mix. Balance first, then master.

Shared space and sidechain

A shared room appears in each feeding track’s rack, marked Shared, with an In this room list and a Wet control for that track’s contribution. For ducking, the Sidechain card selects another part as the key source. These let the mix keep one coherent space while creating room between the kick and bass or the voice and instruments.

Finish the summed song

Master FX in the rail acts on the sum. Mastering installs Match EQ and Limiter there; it does not replace the arrangement with a separate file. Once the balance works across the verse and chorus, pause playback and use Master project, then play and export the processed song.

Tips for a clearer mix

Start with the song’s focal part, then bring the other faders around it. Hear the chorus together before soloing individual tracks.
Cut a crowded frequency before boosting another sound. EQ on keys or pads can make space for a bass line without turning the bass up.
Keep kick, bass and lead vocal centred, then spread doubled guitars, backing vocals and percussion with pan.
Bypass one effect card to compare its contribution. Use FX Chain when comparing the whole master chain.
For a vocal that needs different levels in verse and chorus, draw automation or ask CoProducer for that section-specific change.

When the mix sounds distorted

Check the earliest stage where the sound becomes rough: the source clip, the track’s effect chain, then the master bus. Lower the signal entering the stage and compare again. Turning down the final master alone can make distortion quieter while leaving the cause untouched.
