Make Music Online Together
To make music online together, open a Veena project and send your friend an invite link: you both build the same song in real time, and CoProducer, the personal music producer built into Veena, takes requests from either of you. It's free, it runs in the browser, and every part is a real track you can both change.
This is the session musicians used to have to share a room for. A beatmaker in Lagos and a rapper in Madrid, a band arranging a demo the night before rehearsal, a teacher steering a student's first track: same timeline, same moment, and a producer who never gets tired of "try it again, but darker".
How to make music online together in Veena
- Open the song. Start a new project at daw.veena.studio or open one you've already begun.
- Click Share in the transport bar, or go to Settings and then Collaborate.
- Create the invite link. By default it's locked to one email, so it opens only for that person's Google account. Switch to an open link and anyone who has it can join and edit. Veena doesn't send emails; you share the link wherever you talk.
- Your friend joins. They sign in with Google and land in your session. A link works for joining for 30 days; access lasts until you click Remove access.
- Build it together. Faces appear on the Share button, named cursors show where each person is, pinned to the bar and the track, and a marker shows which clip someone is editing. Every edit syncs instantly.
- Bring in the producer. Ask CoProducer in your private chat, or in the shared chat where everyone sees the conversation.
A producer who works for the whole room
In other collaborative studios the people share the work. In Veena the producer does too.
- Two chats. "My chat" is private to you, for ideas you want to try before anyone hears them. "Shared chat" is the room's conversation.
- A fair queue. CoProducer runs one request per project at a time. When it's busy, the next person's request waits in an "Up next" strip instead of colliding.
- Credit where it's due. When CoProducer offers 3 options for a part in the shared chat, the one you keep shows who selected it.
- Undo is personal. Ctrl/Cmd+Z undoes your own changes, never your collaborator's.
So one of you can record a verse while the other asks CoProducer for "a half-time bridge with the 808 dropping out", and neither waits for the other to finish.

Soundtrap lets bandmates collaborate "in real-time through video and chat", but vocal tuning and automation are "available on the Sound Starter, Music Production, and Production & Vocals plans", which start at US$9.59 a month billed yearly (Soundtrap's site and pricing page, September 2026).
BandLab fits "up to 50 collaborators per project", yet its free Studio stops at 16 tracks, shows ads, and keeps AutoMix, Voice Cleaner and Smart Tools for Pro at $14.99 a month (BandLab's homepage and pricing page, September 2026).
Audiotool is free with real-time collaboration, but it's built for producers who patch its 37 devices together and program every part by hand (Audiotool's site, September 2026).
Sesh calls itself a "Collaborative DAW for Beat Makers", but its free Starter plan is "Non-commercial use" with "Limited projects" and "Limited export"; commercial rights for new songs start with Pro, $5 a month billed yearly at a limited-time price (Sesh's pricing page, September 2026).

Before your first session
Agree who owns the project, since it lives in the owner's account. Decide the tempo and key up front, or let CoProducer set them from the genre. And give the song a working title so it's easy to find under "Shared by" on your projects page. It still works. When one computer in a Veena session has a plug-in the other lacks, the machine that has it renders the audio and shares it, and a caption on the clip says whose machine is doing the work. Veena Bridge hosts VST3 plug-ins on Windows and VST3 plus Audio Units on a Mac.
Can we work on the song at different times?
Yes. A shared Veena project works like a shared document: it stays in the owner's account, and anyone with access can open it any time and keep working, alone or together. It appears as "Shared by" the owner on your projects page, and access lasts until the owner clicks Remove access.
