Free chord progression generator: choose a key, mode and mood, hear the chords, edit the progression and download MIDI. Veena puts a playable musical phrase in your hands, then CoProducer builds it into a song with drums, bass, melody, arrangement and mix.

Veena is an AI DAW with a personal music producer built in. Describe the song you want and CoProducer builds it with you — beats, chords, melody, arrangement and mix — as real tracks you can edit, mix and export. Free, in your browser.

How to use the chord progression generator

  1. Choose your key. Pick the tonal centre for the song and choose the mode.
  2. Choose the feel. Select a mood or genre preset to load its chord sequence in your key.
  3. Press Play. Hear the progression in your browser. Set the tempo for the pace you want, then stop playback when you are ready to change the phrase.
  4. Edit the chords. Use each chord's root and chord-type controls to shape the sequence. Play it again to hear your changes together.
  5. Download MIDI. Save the chord notes and timing as a real .mid file for your project.
  6. Build the song. Select Turn this progression into a full song with CoProducer. Veena copies the brief and opens the studio with it ready to send.

You choose the harmony. The generator uses the preset you selected and the notes that belong to your key and mode. You can keep the whole phrase, change its last chord to pull back toward the first, or give the middle of the progression a different colour.

Choose a mood, then shape the movement

Chords give a song a sense of home and motion. A pop progression can move from the tonic to the dominant, pass through a minor chord and return through the fourth. A minor phrase can stay close to its tonal centre while the bass and drums carry the rhythm. Seventh chords add another note to the harmony and give a short progression more colour.

The mode sets the note collection. The preset chooses a path through it. Editing individual chords gives you the final say. Try the same preset in two keys to find a register that suits your voice, then change one chord and listen to the phrase as a whole.

For C–G–Am–F in C major, ask CoProducer for a piano track with one chord per bar. For a slower feel, tell it to hold each chord for two bars and leave room for a melody. For a dance track, keep the harmony and ask for short offbeat chord stabs with a bassline on the roots.

The AI chord progression generator develops that direction inside Veena. Describe the voicing, instrument and rhythm you want, and CoProducer writes the part as editable MIDI on your timeline. Ask for another version or change a note yourself in the piano roll.

Play the progression in your browser

Pressing Play creates the sound locally with Web Audio. The controls you chose are the controls you hear: the chord roots, chord types and tempo stay connected to the progression. Stop playback before you make a change, then play the phrase again to hear the new direction.

The tool uses musical presets. It sends no AI request to generate the sequence, and its playback needs no upload or paid music service. You can explore the harmony before opening a studio project.

Download MIDI and keep producing

MIDI stores notes and their timing. When you download this progression, the file carries the chords you selected as notes you can place on an instrument track. Import it into Veena, choose the sound and open the piano roll to edit the voicing or rhythm.

A MIDI chord progression is a musical part you can produce. Choose a soft piano for a verse, put the same notes on a warm pad for a chorus, or ask CoProducer for a bassline that follows the roots. Build drums beside the harmony and write a melody that gives the phrase its own identity.

For a progression from your own audio, open the chord finder. To build a new pitched part in the studio, use the MIDI generator. The walkthrough in chords and harmony in Veena connects chord names, instruments and piano roll editing.

Turn this progression into your song

CoProducer works with the progression as your musical direction. Say what the song should feel like, which instrument should play the chords and where you want the chorus to arrive. Keep the request concrete:

Turn C, G, Am and F into a 16-bar pop song in C major at 120 BPM, one chord per bar. Play the chords on piano, write a bassline following the roots, add punchy drums and a memorable melody, then arrange a verse and chorus.

The chords become one part of a full editable project. Change the sound, add a section or ask for a different groove, then export the song when it is ready. Veena keeps the musical work moving from a four-chord phrase to a track you can finish.

Frequently asked questions

Is Veena's chord progression generator free?

Yes. Veena's chord progression generator on this page is free and works without an account. Choose a key, mode and mood preset, play the progression, edit individual chords and download a MIDI file. The presets are musical data you select in your browser. Use CoProducer when you want to turn those chords into a full song with editable tracks.

How do I generate a chord progression in a different key?

Select the key and mode in Veena's progression generator, then choose a mood or genre preset. The chord names and playback follow your selection. Change any individual chord to give the phrase your own direction. When you open CoProducer, the brief carries your selected key, tempo and chord sequence into the Veena studio.

Can I hear and edit the generated chords?

Yes. Veena's browser generator plays the progression with Web Audio when you press Play. Each chord has editable root and chord-type controls, so you can replace a minor chord, add a seventh or try a suspended sound. Play the phrase again, then download the exact version you chose or use it in a CoProducer brief.

Does Download MIDI create a real MIDI file?

Yes. Download MIDI writes a standard .mid file with the progression's chord notes and timing. The exported sequence matches the chord controls you selected in Veena's generator. Import it into Veena to choose an instrument and edit its notes in the piano roll, then ask CoProducer to build bass, drums and melody around the harmony.

Does the chord progression generator make an AI request?

The generator on this page uses musical presets and your key, mode and chord choices directly in the browser. Playback and MIDI export happen on your device. Turn this progression into a full song with CoProducer opens Veena with a musical brief ready for you to send, giving you control over the studio's next step.

How do I find the chords in a recording I already have?

Use Veena's free chord finder for your own demo, piano take or guitar loop. Drop in the recording to see the progression over beats and bars, alongside its key and tempo. You can then build a new song on those changes with CoProducer, or import the recording into Veena and develop the parts beside it.
