Audio to MIDI in Veena

Updated October 2026By Veena Studio

Audio to MIDI in Veena turns your recorded melody or percussive performance into editable notes that CoProducer can place and you can refine in the piano roll.

Veena is an AI DAW with a personal music producer built in. Describe the song you want and CoProducer builds it with you — beats, chords, melody, arrangement and mix — as real tracks you can edit, mix and export. Free, in your browser.

Audio to MIDI in Veena, step by step

  1. Record or import a take. Use your own humming, an instrument phrase or a percussive performance. A clear single part gives you an easy result to inspect.
  2. Point CoProducer at the recording. On a laptop, drag its clip into the panel; otherwise name the track and bars. State the phrase you want transcribed.
  3. Ask for editable notes. For example: "Transcribe this guitar melody to MIDI and play it on piano" or "turn my tapped rhythm into editable drum notes."
  4. Wait for the new MIDI part. CoProducer reads the source and places the transcribed notes in the project. Listen to the new part against the recording.
  5. Open Piano Roll or Beat Maker. Move a note that needs a different pitch, shorten a held note, or adjust a drum hit and its velocity. The notes are ordinary editable MIDI.
  6. Choose its sound in Instrument. A melodic phrase can move from piano to strings or a synth without another transcription.
  7. Export the notes if needed. Download MIDI file saves one clip; Export with MIDI writes the project’s MIDI tracks into a file.

Notes and new audio are different choices

Ask for transcription when you want the performed notes to edit. Ask for a new instrument sound on the recording when you want an audio rendition instead. CoProducer has both routes: the instruction "editable MIDI" makes your intended result clear.

Keep the performance’s musical intent

Before quantizing, listen to the timing that made the take feel alive. Correct a mistaken note first, then decide whether the groove needs tightening. A hummed phrase can become a cello melody, a keyboard sketch can become a pad, and a tapped idea can become a drum pattern. Give CoProducer the project’s key and the part’s role when asking it to extend the phrase into the rest of the song.

Frequently asked questions

How do I turn an audio clip into editable MIDI in Veena?

Select your recording in Veena and choose Transcribe in its clip menu, or ask CoProducer to turn the part into MIDI. Inspect the resulting notes in the piano roll, choose an instrument and adjust notes or timing as you listen. Keep the original recording available in the project for comparison.

What is the difference between audio to MIDI and re-voicing in Veena?

Audio to MIDI in Veena produces notes you can edit in Piano Roll or Beat Maker. Re-voicing produces a new audio sound from the recording instead. Ask CoProducer for editable MIDI when note-level control is your goal, then choose the instrument that should play those notes inside the same project.

Can I export transcribed MIDI from Veena?

Yes. A MIDI part transcribed in Veena is an ordinary editable clip. Use Download MIDI file for that clip, or choose MIDI in Export for the project’s MIDI tracks. You can change its sound, notes, lengths and velocities before exporting, just as you would with a part you drew or recorded as MIDI.
