Use your VST and AU plugins with Veena Bridge

Your VST and AU plugins work in Veena through Veena Bridge, a small free helper app you install once on your Mac or Windows computer. It hosts your instruments and effects on your own machine and plays them into the song in your browser, so the Serum patch or reverb you already own sits in the same project where CoProducer builds with you.

Set up VST and AU plugins with Veena Bridge

1. Open a clip's FX tab. Select any clip and click FX in the dock.
2. Press the VST card. For an instrument plug-in on a MIDI clip, press VSTi, which appears once Veena detects instrument plug-ins. Veena tries to start the helper for you.
3. Install Veena Bridge the first time. If the helper isn't running, a panel opens explaining that your plug-ins live on your computer, with Launch and Download. Download it (a signed, notarised app on Mac; an installer on Windows) and install it once. It starts at login and runs quietly in the background.
4. Press Launch and allow access. Your browser asks to allow local network access for Veena; allow it, because that's how Veena reaches the helper on your own machine. The panel closes by itself as soon as Veena finds Bridge.
5. Pick a plug-in. The list shows what's detected on this device, AU/VSTs on a Mac and VSTs on Windows, with Search plugins at the top.
6. Open its window. Press Open plugin window to use the plug-in's own interface. Its settings save with your project.

What works where (as of September 2026)

Instruments and effects both work. VST2 plug-ins aren't hosted. The picker marks each plug-in supported, unstable or unsupported: an unsupported one is blocked with the reason, and an unstable one warns you before you continue. Plug-ins have worked on the live site since 13 September 2026.

Ask CoProducer to use your plugins

CoProducer reads the list of plug-ins you have installed and weighs them against Veena's built-ins, choosing whichever suits the part, and it starts from a real preset rather than a blank patch:

• "Put Serum on the lead and start from a bright pluck preset."
• "Use my Valhalla reverb on the vocal instead of the built-in one."
• "Which of my plug-ins would suit a dark trap 808?"

Plug-ins in a shared project

In real-time collaboration, a collaborator who doesn't own your plug-in still hears it: the machine that has it renders the audio and shares it with the session. Their card shows it greyed with a Locked chip and the owner's name, so nobody can change a sound they can't run.

Troubleshooting Veena Bridge

• The set-up panel stays open: open Veena Bridge from your Applications folder or Start menu, then press Launch again.
• Your browser blocked Veena: allow local network access for daw.veena.studio in the site settings, then press Launch.
• A plug-in says Needs Intel bridge: it's an Intel-only plug-in on an Apple Silicon Mac.
• Clips look faded with a warning after opening a project: Veena Bridge isn't running. Start it, and the clips come back on their own.
• Veena asks you to update Bridge: press Get the latest, install the new version over the old one, then press Launch.
