Make music together in real time
Real-time collaboration in Veena puts you and your co-writers in the same project at the same time: invite someone with a link, and you both edit the song live, with named cursors, synced sections and a CoProducer you can brief together. It works like a Google Doc for music, it's free on every plan, and it has been live since 12 September 2026.

Start real-time collaboration in Veena
- Open the Share button. It's at the right of the transport bar, beside Save: a people icon that shows "Share" when you hover it. You can also open Settings from the account menu and choose Collaborate.
- Invite a person. Type their email in Invite by email and press Invite. Veena creates a link that opens only for that person's Google account and copies it to your clipboard. Send it in a message, an email or a DM.
- Or copy an open link. Under Anyone with the link ("Can join and edit"), press Copy link. Anyone who has this link can join and edit, so share it with care.
- They join. Your collaborator opens the link and signs in with Google. The project appears on their projects page as "Shared by" you.
- Make music. Edits sync instantly. Faces appear on the Share button, each person's named cursor sits on the bar and track they're working on, and a clip shows when someone is editing it.
- Remove access when you're done. Open Share, find the person under Shared with, click Editor and choose Remove access.
Ask CoProducer, together
Every shared project has two CoProducer chats: My chat, which only you see, and Shared chat, which the whole session sees. Only one CoProducer run happens in a project at a time; the next request waits in the Up next strip, and a pick made in the shared chat is marked "Selected by" whoever chose it.
- In the shared chat: "Write an 8-bar half-time bridge with just keys and bass, and we'll pick one of the 3 options together."
- In the shared chat: "Mix the whole song while we listen: vocal up front, drums punchy."
- In your own chat: "Give me three busier hi-hat patterns to try before I show the band."

Tips for sessions that flow
- Split the jobs. One person on drums and bass, another on chords and melody; clip indicators show who's in what.
- Try ideas privately first. Use My chat to audition a direction, then bring the one you like to the Shared chat.
- Mark the sections early. Named sections sync for everyone, so "let's redo the second chorus" means the same bars on every screen; see arranging a song.
- Plug-ins travel. A collaborator without your plug-in still hears it; see VST and AU plugins with Veena Bridge.

Is collaboration in Veena free?
Yes. Real-time collaboration has been live in Veena since 12 September 2026 and works on every plan, free included. Invite people with an email-locked or open link, and everyone edits the same project at once, with live cursors and a CoProducer chat you can share.
Does Veena email the invite for me?
No. Veena creates the link and copies it to your clipboard, and you send it however you like. An email-locked link opens only for the Google account you typed; an open link lets anyone who has it join and edit. Either way, a Veena invite link works for joining for 30 days.
Can collaborators use CoProducer in my project?
Yes. Everyone in a shared Veena project can ask CoProducer, in a private My chat or in the Shared chat that everyone sees. One CoProducer run happens at a time per project; the next request waits in the Up next strip, and a pick made in the shared chat shows who selected it.
Does my project stay mine when I share it?
Yes. A shared Veena project stays the owner's, the way a Google Doc does. Collaborators edit it while they have access, and you can take that access away at any time: open the Share button, find them under Shared with, click Editor and choose Remove access.
