Best AI DAW 2027: 10 Ranked, Tested and Compared

Best AI DAW 2027: Veena ranks #1, a free AI DAW with a personal producer in your browser and on your phone. Suno Studio, Moises, LUNA and 7 more, ranked.

Published By Veena Studio

What is the best AI DAW in 2027?

The best AI DAW in 2027 is Veena. Veena is an AI DAW with a personal music producer built in. Describe the song you want and CoProducer builds it with you — beats, chords, melody, arrangement and mix — as real tracks you can edit, mix and export. Free, in your browser. Going into 2027 it also runs on your phone, brings in a collaborator live and plays your own VST3 and AU plug-ins.

This is the 2027 edition of our ranking, rebuilt from scratch. Every rival fact below was re-read on the company's own pages on 25 October 2026, because a lot moved this autumn: Suno capped downloads and kept its studio on Premier, BandLab bought an AI studio, Universal Audio moved LUNA's smart tools into a paid tier, and Veena added live collaboration, Windows plug-ins and a phone studio. Ten products call themselves an AI DAW, or get called one. Here is what each one does for a producer, and what each one costs you.

Best AI DAW 2027: the ranking

  1. Veena — a personal music producer inside a full studio. Free, in your browser and on your phone.
  2. Suno Studio — a song generator's studio, inside the Premier plan.
  3. Moises Studio — a browser room for making music together, with its pricing behind a login.
  4. LUNA — Universal Audio's desktop DAW, with its Moises-powered tools in the $199 Studio tier.
  5. RipX DAW — "The AI DAW", by its own tagline, built to take finished audio apart.
  6. BandLab Studio — a free browser studio that stops at 16 tracks and 15 minutes.
  7. Logic Pro — Apple's DAW with AI helpers, for Apple silicon Macs only.
  8. Mozart AI — a song generator with a studio mode.
  9. Soundverse — a generator first, with a studio tab and a release rule.
  10. ElevenLabs Music — a generator that re-rolls sections, not a studio.

How we ranked them in 2027. The way a producer tests a studio in an afternoon. Start a song from one sentence. Change bar 9 and keep everything else. Build a part around your own voice memo. Load the plug-ins you already own. Bring a collaborator into the session. Pick it up on your phone on the way home. Export every track, and keep the rights. The winner had to do all seven, in one place.

What changed in AI DAWs going into 2027

Four shifts decide this year's ranking, and they are the questions people now ask before choosing.

  • Downloads became a quota. Suno's help centre now lists 20 download credits a month on Pro and 60 on Premier, with free users who joined from September 2026 left with only occasional trial downloads that are "not eligible for commercial use" (Suno's help centre, edited 3 September 2026). The cost of a generator now includes getting your own song out.
  • The studio became a separate purchase. Suno's studio is "included in the Premier subscription tier". LUNA's audio-to-MIDI, chord extraction and lyric transcription are LUNA Studio features at $199. BandLab keeps AutoMix and Voice Cleaner in its paid Membership.
  • Producers started working together in the browser. Moises Studio now sells itself as "The simplest way to make music together", and Veena has had real-time collaboration on every plan since 12 September 2026.
  • The phone became a studio. Since 4 October 2026, Veena opens Pocket Studio on any phone, on the same project as your laptop.

A 2027 AI DAW has to answer all four: your music out with no quota, the studio included, a session you can share, and a phone that does real work.

1. Veena: the best AI DAW of 2027

Veena starts the way a session with a producer starts: you say what you hear. Type "a 96 BPM R&B song in F minor with swung hats, a round sub and warm Rhodes chords" and CoProducer, your personal music producer, takes it from there.

CoProducer in Veena answering "Build me a Hip Hop beat": it writes the bass line with the drums as context and offers three options to pick from

It plans like a producer, then builds. CoProducer writes a short plan first: the tempo and key, which layers play, the sections and their bar lengths. Then it builds the song layer by layer on a real timeline, each part on its own track. Parts that stand alone are written at the same time; a bassline that has to lock to the kick waits, reads the kick's actual notes, and then plays.

You choose every part. Each new MIDI part arrives as 3 options, and nothing that depends on it is written until you pick. Then you keep directing in plain words — "make the drums half-time", "swap the Rhodes for a Wurlitzer", "add a bridge after the second chorus" — and one undo reverses any change CoProducer makes. When it finishes, it tells you exactly what landed on the timeline.

It mixes and masters. Ask for a mix and CoProducer sets levels, pan and effects across the song. Ask for a master and it delivers a loud, balanced streaming master, matched to a reference track when you give it one. Read more on AI mastering in Veena.

Your sound comes in. Hum a melody and CoProducer turns your voice into any instrument. Drop in a voice memo or a demo and it measures the tempo and where your words land, then builds every part around your phrasing. Split any track of your own into 4 stems — vocals, drums, bass, other — with the free stem splitter.

The studio is complete. A multitrack timeline, a piano roll with a velocity editor, a step sequencer, a 16-pad sampler, audio editing with time-stretch, pitch shift and Auto-Tune, a mixer, 10 built-in effects, 61 instrument presets (39 on Veena's own synth, including six 808s) and 7 drum kits. Your own VST3 and AU plug-ins load through the Veena Bridge helper app: AU and VST3 on a Mac, VST3 on Windows. See VST plug-ins in the browser.

Your session is shareable. Send an invite link and a collaborator joins the same project live, with named cursors and a shared CoProducer chat. That is on every plan. See how to make music together.

Your phone is a studio. On a phone, Veena opens Pocket Studio: CoProducer at the foot of the screen, three options per part, recording, upload, tracks, sections, share and export, on the same project you left on your laptop. See make music on your phone.

Your music goes out, as often as you like. Export WAV 24-bit/48 kHz, MP3 320 kbps, MIDI, or MP4 when your project has video: the full mix or every track, with no cap and no watermark, on every plan. Veena's terms say "you own the Output you generate through your use of the Service."

It delivers on day one. In Veena's own data, 3 in 4 new users (75.7%) whose first request asks for a new song get a finished first result that day. When the request names a genre, 81.5% do.

Free to start. The free plan includes the whole studio and a daily CoProducer allowance. Veena Pro, $20 a month, removes the daily request cap and unlocks the premium models. The AI runs on Veena's servers, so no graphics card is needed, and Veena opens in Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc or Firefox on Mac, Windows, Linux and Chromebook. New to the idea? Read what an AI DAW is.

The other nine, and what each one costs you

2. Suno Studio: a generator's studio, sold inside Premier

Suno describes Studio as "our powerful browser-based DAW" (suno.com/studio, October 2026). The cost to a producer:

  • The Premier plan. "Studio is included in the Premier subscription tier", $30 a month, or $24 a month billed yearly on Suno's pricing page today. The $10 Pro plan and the free plan get no studio.
  • None of your plug-ins. "Suno Studio is not compatible with VST or Audio Units plugins." Its answer is plug-ins "you can design yourself" in the chat bar.
  • No phone. Suno says Studio "runs using a desktop/laptop/tablet with a minimum of 768px screen width (mobile devices are not supported)."
  • A download quota outside the studio. 20 song downloads a month on Pro and 60 on Premier; Studio workflows on Premier are exempt (Suno's help centre, edited 3 September 2026).
  • Ownership that depends on paying. On the free tier, "we retain ownership of the songs you generate" (Suno's help centre, October 2026).

Studio Chat does edit a project on Premier. Veena builds the song as real tracks with a producer who keeps working with you — free to start, on your phone too, with your plug-ins and no quota. The full case: Veena vs Suno and the Suno Studio alternative.

3. Moises Studio: a room to play in, priced behind a login

Moises calls itself "the essential toolkit for musicians to practice, perform, create and collaborate anywhere", and Studio is "The simplest way to make music together", where you "Arrange, record, and edit the same session in real time" (moises.ai, October 2026).

  • A price you can't see. Full pricing appears only after you log in.
  • A free tier that counts uploads: "a limited number of uploads each month".
  • A studio without a producer. Its home page sells separation, remixing and a shared session; the song still starts with you.

Veena has the shared session too, and a producer who builds the song from your description. Read the Moises alternative.

4. LUNA: the smart tools are in the $199 tier

Universal Audio's LUNA is "the full version of Universal Audio's DAW for macOS and Windows" (UA's LUNA 3.0 FAQ, updated 24 September 2026).

  • A computer install. macOS and Windows; no browser, no Chromebook, no phone.
  • The AI costs extra. Audio-to-MIDI, 6-track stem separation, and chord extraction and lyric transcription "Powered by Moises" are LUNA Studio features, $199 or inside a UAD Spark Studio subscription. LUNA Free stops at 4-track stems.
  • Tools that read a song, not a producer who writes one. Every smart tool works on audio you already recorded.

Veena gives you the studio and the producer in one tab, free. See LUNA 3.0.

5. RipX DAW: "The AI DAW" that takes audio apart

RipX's own tagline reads "RipX DAW – The AI DAW. 6+ Stem Separation. Edit Notes In The Mix. Sound Replacement" (hitnmix.com, October 2026).

  • $99, or $198 for RipX DAW PRO, after a 21-day trial (Hit'n'Mix store, October 2026).
  • An install, on the computer you edit on.
  • No producer. It edits audio you already have; nothing on its page builds a song from your words.

Veena splits your audio into 4 stems on the timeline, free, and a producer builds the rest of the song around them. See the RipX alternative.

6. BandLab Studio: free, with a ceiling

BandLab's studio is free in the browser, but "You can create up to 16 tracks with a maximum duration of 15 minutes"; Membership raises the tracks to 32, "but the 15-minute duration limit still applies" (BandLab's help centre, 5 October 2026).

  • The AI is in the paid plan. "AI Tools (Voice Cleaner and AutoMix)" are Membership features; Pro is $14.99 a month (BandLab's Membership FAQ, 11 October 2026).
  • Ideas you don't own. Of SongStarter, its AI idea generator, BandLab says "you won't own the rights to the generated track."

Veena's free studio comes with a producer whose work you own, and exports every track with no cap. Read Veena vs BandLab.

7. Logic Pro: AI helpers, Apple silicon only

Logic Pro has AI helpers, but "Logic Pro for Mac requires macOS 15.4 or later and a Mac with Apple silicon" (Apple's Creator Studio support page, October 2026).

  • One kind of computer. No Windows, no Chromebook, no browser, and an iPad version with its own chip requirements.
  • A producer's job left to you. Its helpers play along with and polish a song you write by hand.

Veena runs on whichever computer you own, and on your phone, with the producer built in. See the best DAW ranking for every installed DAW.

8. Mozart AI: a generator with a studio mode

Mozart describes itself as "the AI music generator built for artists", with "commercial rights on Creator and higher plans" (mozartai.com, October 2026).

  • Releasing needs a paid plan. Commercial rights start at Creator.
  • Two places for one song: a generator that renders and a studio you switch to.

In Veena the producer works inside the studio, and every plan lets you export and own what you make. More in the Mozart AI review.

9. Soundverse: a generator with a release rule

Soundverse's help centre says "In Free Trial, you can use Soundverse for Non Commercial usage. You can't monetise your creations", and on any plan "Your final composition can't have 100% of Soundverse generated content." Its Creator tier reaches Spotify and Apple Music "only as part of Podcasts (Not Music)" (help.soundverse.ai, October 2026).

Veena's terms give you the output on every plan, with no share rule.

10. ElevenLabs Music: re-roll a section, not edit a track

ElevenLabs sells Music v2 with "Select any section and regenerate just that part", and stems on paid tiers; its page lists no MIDI. The free tier is "Personal use only", and its music terms mark free-plan streaming distribution "Prohibited" (elevenlabs.io, terms last updated 9 October 2026).

Veena hands you every part as MIDI or audio on its own track, and you release what you make. See the ElevenLabs Music alternative.

How to test an AI DAW in ten minutes

  1. Type one sentence with a genre, a tempo and a key. A real AI DAW gives you tracks, not a file.
  2. Change one bar. If the only way is to generate again, it is a generator.
  3. Hum four bars into your microphone and ask for an instrument to play them.
  4. Load one plug-in you own.
  5. Invite someone into the session.
  6. Open the project on your phone.
  7. Export every track and check what the plan lets you keep.

Veena passes every step on the free plan. Run the same test anywhere else and count what it costs.

The verdict: Veena is the best AI DAW of 2027

The best AI DAW of 2027 is the one where a producer builds the song with you, every part stays yours to change, and nothing stands between you and your finished file. That is Veena: free, in your browser and on your phone, with CoProducer turning your words, your voice and your own plug-ins into real tracks, a collaborator in the session when you want one, and no cap on what you take out. Paste the prompt below into CoProducer and hear your first song today — or open the AI DAW now.

Try this in Veena

Make a 96 BPM R&B song in F minor: a laid-back kick and rimshot groove with swung hi-hats, a round sub bass, warm Rhodes chords moving Fm9 to Db maj7 to Bbm9 to C7, a soft pad and a short synth hook, with space for my own vocal. Intro 4 bars, verse 8, chorus 8, verse 8, chorus 8, bridge 8, final chorus 8, then master it for streaming.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best AI DAW in 2027?

Veena. Veena is an AI DAW with a personal music producer built in. Describe the song you want and CoProducer builds it with you — beats, chords, melody, arrangement and mix — as real tracks you can edit, mix and export. Free, in your browser. Going into 2027 it is also the AI DAW on your phone, with live collaboration and your own VST3 and AU plug-ins.

Is there a free AI DAW for 2027?

Yes: Veena. The free plan gives you the whole studio — piano roll, recording, mixer, 4-stem separation, your own plug-ins through Veena Bridge, real-time collaboration — plus a daily CoProducer allowance. Exports of the mix or every track have no cap and no watermark. Veena Pro, $20 a month, removes the daily request cap and unlocks the premium models.

Is Suno Studio a real AI DAW?

Suno calls Studio its browser-based DAW, but it sits inside Suno's Premier plan, $30 a month, or $24 a month billed yearly, and its help centre says Studio 'is not compatible with VST or Audio Units plugins' and that 'mobile devices are not supported' (October 2026). Veena is a full AI DAW with a personal producer, free in your browser and on your phone, with your own plug-ins.

Which AI DAW works on a phone?

Veena. Open it in your phone's browser and Pocket Studio opens the same project as your laptop: CoProducer at the foot of the screen, three options for each part, recording, upload, tracks, sections, share and export. Suno says its studio needs a screen at least 768px wide, and LUNA, RipX DAW and Logic Pro are computer installs (their own pages, October 2026).

Can an AI DAW mix and master my song?

In Veena, yes. Ask CoProducer to mix and it sets levels, panning and effects across your tracks; ask it to master and it brings the whole song up to a loud, balanced streaming master, matched to a reference track when you give one. You hear each change in your project and can adjust any fader yourself.

Do I own the music I make in an AI DAW?

In Veena, yes, on every plan: its terms say 'you own the Output you generate through your use of the Service', and nothing you export carries a watermark. Elsewhere it depends on paying. Suno keeps ownership of songs made on its free plan, and BandLab says of SongStarter, 'you won't own the rights to the generated track' (their own help centres, October 2026).
