Amped Studio Alternative: Veena, Free AI and Free WAV Export

Amped Studio's free plan exports MP3 only, can't export a project and stops at 16 tracks, and its AI costs $12.99 a month and assembles "audio stems from a sound library database", which is why musicians look for an Amped Studio alternative. The best Amped Studio alternative is Veena, a free AI DAW with a personal music producer built in: CoProducer writes your song as real, editable tracks, and 24-bit WAV export and stem separation are free.

What Amped Studio's plans hold back

Amped Studio sells three plans, and the one you'd want is the third:

• Starter, free: "Ads", "5 projects", "16 tracks", "No projects export", "Export only in MP3 format", "0GB storage for external audio files", "No VST 3 support external plugins", "5 x Virtual instruments", "0 Sample packs", and AI features as a "Demo AI features one-time access".
• Premium, $6.99 a month ($5.99 billed annually): "50 projects", WAV export, VST3 plug-ins and 10GB of storage. The AI is still a "one-time" demo.
• Premium + AI, $12.99 a month ($9.99 billed annually): the "Music assistant" and the "Splitter", and 50GB of storage.

Two more lines from its FAQ narrow who can use it at all: "Amped Studio only works with Chromium based browsers like Chrome, Edge, Opera and Brave. Amped Studio does not function fully in Firefox or Safari." And on phones: "Currently, no it is a web application only."

What it costs you: $12.99 a month before the AI does anything more than a demo, and a free plan whose songs leave as MP3s.

What Amped's AI actually makes

Amped's AI page is plain about it. You "select the style of music you want" from a drop-down menu, and "the service creates between 4 & 8 tracks". Its own FAQ explains where they come from: "With the AI Assistant, the results are audio stems from a sound library database, so in effect its like having your own intelligent sound library with the assistant suggesting sounds and structure. Ultimately its up to the user to make it creatively original."

On using the result commercially, Amped writes: "The usage rights of AI-generated music may vary." Its homepage FAQ adds that "Amped Studio is not a text-prompt-based AI music generator".

So the AI picks library audio by style. It doesn't hear your idea in your words, and it doesn't write notes for your song.

Veena: the Amped Studio alternative that writes the notes

In Veena, you tell your producer what you hear, in plain words and in your own language. Open daw.veena.studio in Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc, Firefox or Safari, sign in with Google and describe the track:

"Make a 124 BPM deep house track in F minor: a four-on-the-floor kick, shuffled closed hats and a clap on 2 and 4, a warm rolling bassline, jazzy electric piano chords and a plucky synth hook. 16-bar intro, 32-bar groove, 16-bar break, 32-bar groove, 16-bar outro."

CoProducer sets 124 BPM and F minor, plans the sections, and writes each part as new MIDI for this song: a drum pattern in the step sequencer, a bassline that reads the kick it has to sit with, electric piano voicings you can open in the piano roll, a hook on Veena's own synth. Every new part arrives as 3 options, and nothing that depends on it is written until you pick. New users who ask for EDM get a finished first result on day one 90.7% of the time in Veena's own data. About 1 in 5 new users write that first request in a language other than English, Spanish most of all, and CoProducer understands them.

Then keep producing:

• Change anything in plain words. "Make the hats swing more", "swap the electric piano for strings", "add a four-bar breakdown before the second groove". One Ctrl or Cmd+Z undoes any CoProducer change.
• Bring your own audio. Record from your mic, or drop in a loop, a demo or a voice memo in any of 13 audio formats; imports go straight to your cloud storage. Then ask CoProducer to build around it: it measures the tempo and phrasing first.
• Split any song into stems, vocals, drums, bass and other, with a right-click, on the free plan. Stem separation in Veena walks through it.
• Use your plug-ins. The Veena Bridge helper app opens your VST3 and Audio Unit plug-ins on a Mac and VST3 on Windows, free.
• Mix it. CoProducer measures the whole mix, sets levels, pan and effects, and masters it for streaming.
• Export it. WAV 24-bit/48 kHz, MP3 320 kbps or MIDI, the full mix or every track as stems in one zip, as often as you like, with no watermark. See Veena's export formats.

Veena's terms say "you own the Output you generate through your use of the Service." The free plan comes with a daily CoProducer allowance and up to 5 projects, with no end date and no card. Veena Pro is $20 a month and removes the daily request cap and unlocks the premium models.

Bottom line: the AI is on the free plan, it writes new parts for your song from your own words, and the song leaves as 24-bit WAV and stems instead of an MP3.

2. BandLab: the same 16-track ceiling

BandLab's free Studio allows "up to 16 tracks with a maximum duration of 15 minutes" (help centre, edited 24 March 2026), so it doesn't fix Amped's cap. Its AI tools, AutoMix, Voice Cleaner, Audio-to-MIDI and Smart Tools, are "No" on the free plan and need Pro at $14.99 a month; SongStarter runs on 15 Tokens a month, and "you won't own the rights to the generated track". 3. Soundtrap: MP3 on free, stems at US$20.99

Soundtrap's free plan exports MP3 or OGG too. WAV starts on Music Production at US$16.99 a month, and the Stem Splitter "is only available on Production & Vocals", at US$20.99 a month (Soundtrap help centre, September 2026). Its pricing page lists no AI tools. See our Soundtrap alternative.

4. Audiotool: free, and no AI in the studio

Audiotool is free with "no track or feature caps", but its studio has no AI producer: its product page offers AI mastering and stem separation as third-party services developers connect through its API. 5. Soundation: no audio export at all on free

"To export audio from Soundation, you need to be on one of the paid plans." MP3 starts on Starter at $9.99 a month and 16-bit WAV on Creator at $14.99 a month, and its Gennie AI makes 12-second samples you "may not use" commercially (Soundation plans and Gennie pages, September 2026). 1. Export what you can. On the free Starter plan, that's an MP3 of each song; Premium adds WAV.
