Split a song into stems in Veena

Stem separation in Veena splits any song or recording into four stems (vocals, drums, bass and other) and lays them on new tracks, lined up with the original, so you can remix, replace or rebuild any part. It's free: right-click a clip and choose Separate into Stems, or ask CoProducer to do it.

Stem separation in Veena, step by step

1. Bring in the audio. Drag the file onto the timeline or click Upload in the transport bar. WAV, MP3, M4A, AAC, OGG, OPUS, FLAC, AIFF and CAF files all import. For a video, right-click it and choose Separate Audio first.
2. Stop playback. Separation starts only while the transport is stopped.
3. Right-click the clip and choose Separate into Stems. A "separating…" badge sits on the clip while the split runs on Veena's servers, usually 45 to 120 seconds for a full song.
4. Find your stems. Four new tracks appear beside the original, time-aligned with it: vocals, drums, bass and other. Veena mutes the original rather than deleting it, so you can compare at any time.
5. Work with them. Solo the vocal, loop the chorus, pull the drums down in the Mixer, or export any stem on its own.

Ask CoProducer to split, then keep going

Typing works too, and CoProducer can carry on from the split in the same request:

• "Split this song into stems."
• "Isolate the vocals," which gives you two tracks, the vocal and the rest of the mix.
• "Split this, mute the drums and write a new drum part at the song's tempo."

CoProducer measures every stem before it names one. If the song has no vocal, it tells you the vocal stem is close to silent instead of pretending otherwise. From there, it can transcribe a stem to MIDI, re-voice it as another instrument or write a replacement part; see basslines and 808s for an example.

Limits and specs (as of September 2026)

If a split doesn't work

• Nothing happens: the song is playing. Press Space to pause, then try again.
• The clip is too long: press C for split mode, cut the clip in two and separate each half.
• You need guitar or piano on its own: those stay in the other stem. Ask CoProducer to transcribe the other stem to MIDI and keep the notes you need, or to write the part again on a track of its own.
• One stem is nearly silent: that element isn't in the song. When you split through CoProducer, it tells you which stem came back empty.
