AI Pianist

Veena's AI pianist is CoProducer, the personal music producer inside a free AI DAW, sitting at the keys and doing what a good keyboard player does: choosing the voicing, finding the rhythm and knowing when to lay out. Ask for "rootless voicings, comp on the offbeats" and every note it plays stays editable.

Gospel ballad, 12/8.

Listen for the walk-ups: two or three passing chords in the last beats before each change. If the left hand fights the bass later, say "left hand up an octave, no octaves".

Piano house, 122 BPM.

Stabs are short, loud and bright. Ask for "shorter stabs" and the note lengths drop; "move the top note" gives the riff a melody. More at house.

How an AI pianist voices a chord

"Chord progression" is the single most common phrase in first requests to CoProducer, in Veena's own data. A chord symbol is only half the job. The pianist decides the rest:

• Which notes. A Cmaj7 can be four stacked notes, a shell (root, third and seventh), or a rootless voicing that leaves the root to the bass. With a bass player in the band, rootless is usually right.
• Where on the keyboard. Keep the left hand out of the bass's octave or the low end turns to mud. Most comping lives between the C below middle C and the C two octaves up.
• How it moves. Good voice leading moves the fewest fingers between chords. The top note of each voicing makes a line of its own, and listeners hear it as a melody.
• When it speaks. Whole-note pads, offbeat stabs, arpeggios, or the jazz Charleston rhythm on the one and the and of two. Rhythm is half of a piano part's identity.
• When it doesn't. Laying out in the first verse makes the entrance in the chorus mean something.

CoProducer, Veena's AI music producer, makes these calls from what's already in the song: when the bass and drums are on the timeline, it reads their placed notes before it writes the keys, so the voicings sit above the bass line instead of on top of it.

A voicing you can see is a voicing you can fix. Open the clip and the chords sit on the grid note by note.

• Move one note. Drag the top note of a voicing to change the melody line without touching the rest.
• Accent the rhythm. The velocity editor shows every note's strength; pull the offbeats up for a sharper comp.
• Change the instrument, keep the part. Switch between Acoustic Grand Piano, Upright Piano and Electric Piano, or put the voicings on a pad from the Synth shelf. On a Mac or Windows computer, the Veena Bridge lets CoProducer play through your own piano plug-in.
• Play it in yourself. Record MIDI from a USB keyboard or your computer keys, then ask CoProducer to "tighten my left hand" or "re-voice these so they move less".

Other AI pianists, and where they leave you

LANDR Layers. LANDR's AI Pianist page describes a desktop app that needs "the track you're working on" uploaded before it plays a note, with articulation picked from a control for "shorter, more staccato notes". It comes with LANDR Studio subscriptions (LANDR's AI Pianist page, September 2026). What comes back is an audio stem, so a wrong voicing means another generation.

Logic Pro. Apple's Piano Player follows the chords you write into Logic's Chord Track, and Logic runs only on a Mac with Apple silicon or an iPad, at $199.99 or $12.99 a month (Apple's Logic Pro page, September 2026).

Aiode. Aiode's pianist model sits in what Aiode's own FAQ calls a "scaled-down DAW" on the Free plan, with "2 Mix or Region exports a month" and no commercial license, and the whole studio is "currently in beta" (Aiode's pricing page, September 2026).

Song generators. A generated song's piano is baked into the mix, so there's no player to ask for a rootless voicing or a softer left hand.
