Rename tracks in Veena

Updated October 2026By Veena Studio

Rename tracks in Veena by double-clicking a track's name or right-clicking it and choosing Rename, then type your new name and press Enter.

Rename tracks in Veena, step by step

  1. Find the track you want to name. Its name appears beside the clips in the arrangement. Listen to the part if the current label does not tell you what it contains.
  2. Open the name field. Double-click the name, or right-click it and choose Rename. The existing name is selected so you can replace it directly.
  3. Type a musical name. Try "Verse Bass", "Lead Vocal" or "Warm Keys". Choose a label that helps you recognize the part while the whole arrangement is playing.
  4. Press Enter. Clicking away also commits the edit. Press Escape to cancel. A blank or unchanged field leaves the name as it was.
  5. Check the same name elsewhere. Select that track's effects or look at its mixing controls. Veena uses the same name across the studio and when you export the track as a stem.

Name tracks on a phone

  1. Hold the track's name to open the track sheet in Pocket Studio.
  2. Tap the pencil button beside the title, labelled Rename track.
  3. Type the name and finish editing. The sheet and track row show the new name.
  4. Open the same song on a laptop whenever you want a wider view; its names come with the project.

The phone sheet also lets you adjust Volume and pan or move the track. Naming a track before you move it keeps the musical role easy to follow. Read Veena on phones and tablets for the rest of the phone workflow.

Let CoProducer organize the session

CoProducer names a track when it opens a lane for a new part. If you already named that track, placing a part keeps your choice. For a deliberate change, ask directly: "Rename the bass track Verse Bass."

Use names to make your next instruction precise: "Lower Verse Bass in the verse" identifies a part more clearly than "lower Track 4" after tracks have moved. Names are useful to collaborators too: the shared song keeps one label for the track while everyone works on its arrangement.

Take the names into your export

The name you chose follows the track into exported stems and MIDI. Name parts before exporting separate files, especially when a song has several guitars, vocal takes or drum layers. Labels such as "Lead Guitar" and "Chorus Guitar" help you identify the files afterwards without opening each one to listen.

For more controls, start with the Veena help centre, take the studio tour, or read export formats. The track naming release describes the change that made names consistent across the studio.

See the online DAW page for this capability in the full Veena studio.

Rename the drum track Dusty Drums, the bass track Verse Bass and the piano track Warm Keys. Keep those names as you add a softer bass part for the bridge.

Frequently asked questions

Can I rename a track in Veena?

Yes. Veena is an AI DAW with a personal music producer built in. Describe the song you want and CoProducer builds it with you — beats, chords, melody, arrangement and mix — as real tracks you can edit, mix and export. Free, in your browser. Double-click the track name, or right-click it and choose Rename.

Will CoProducer replace a name I typed?

Veena keeps a name you have chosen when CoProducer places a new part on that track. CoProducer can name an unnamed track as it adds a part, and you can explicitly ask it to rename a track. Give tracks names that describe their musical roles so your next request identifies the part you want to change.

How do I rename a track on my phone?

Hold the track name in Veena's Pocket Studio to open its track sheet, then tap the pencil beside the title. Type the new name and finish editing to apply it. The same project uses that name when you open it on a laptop, so you can keep organizing a song across both screens.

Where does Veena use my track names?

Veena uses the track's name throughout the project: its row, effects panel, automation lanes, mixing controls and exported stems. MIDI exports carry track names too. An unnamed track follows its position in the arrangement; a name you chose stays with the track when you move it up or down.
