Basslines and 808s in Veena
Bass in Veena is a MIDI part on its own track: CoProducer writes basslines and 808s against the notes your drums and chords actually play, and you shape the sound with 29 bass presets, six of them 808s with DROP, DECAY, DRIVE and GLIDE knobs. It's free in your browser, and every note stays editable.
Ask CoProducer for the bassline
Open Ask CoProducer in the dock and say what the low end should do:
- "Write a sliding 808 bassline for this trap beat in F minor, gliding into the downbeat every 2 bars."
- "A funky slap bass in E minor at 105 BPM that locks to the kick and leaves space for the snare."
- "Make the bass an octave lower in the verse and simpler in the chorus."
CoProducer doesn't write parts in a fixed order. When the bass has to sit with the kick, it waits for the drums and reads the notes they actually play; when it has to follow the harmony, it reads the chord notes on your timeline. That is why the line it writes lands on your kick. You still choose: 3 options appear in the chat, hover to hear each and press Enter to add one.

The 808s and synth basses run on Veena's own synth: no samples, a full panel of oscillator, filter, envelope and LFO controls, and every parameter settable by CoProducer when you ask for "a darker Reese" or "more sub".
Write bass in Veena by hand
- Create the clip. Click Create MIDI Clip in the transport bar and choose Melody.
- Pick the sound. In the Instrument tab, choose the Bass + 808s shelf, then a preset. Swapping presets while the song plays changes the sound without stopping playback.
- Shape an 808. Every 808 preset shows four macro knobs: DROP sets how far each hit falls in pitch, DECAY how long it rings, DRIVE how much grit it has and GLIDE how long it slides from one note to the next. The 808 Classic Kick swaps these for TUNE, TONE, DECAY and PUNCH.
- Draw the line. In the Piano Roll tab, place notes with the Draw Tool where the kick hits and drag each note's right edge to set its length. Ctrl+↑ and Ctrl+↓ (Cmd on a Mac) move selected notes an octave.
- Check it against the kit. Drag across the ruler to loop the chorus, then balance bass and drums with the faders in the Mixer.
Tips for a low end that works
- Ask for the outcome, not a routing. "Make the kick and bass stop fighting" gets you a cleaner low end; CoProducer carves the space with level and EQ on the bass clips. More in mixing in Veena.
- Swap the sound, keep the line. "Put this bassline on Reese Bass" changes the instrument and leaves every note where it is.
- Start from a real bass. Record a bass guitar, or pull the bass out of a full song with stem separation, then ask CoProducer to transcribe it into MIDI.
- Keep it moving with the song. Ask for a simpler line under the verse and a busier one under the chorus; the edit lands on the bars you name.

Yes. When the bass has to lock to the groove, CoProducer writes it after the drums and reads the kick notes actually placed on your timeline, not a description of them. It reads your chords the same way, so the bassline in Veena supports both the rhythm and the harmony you kept.
Can I turn a bass recording into MIDI in Veena?
Yes. Record or import the bass part, or split it out of a full song with Veena's stem separation, then ask CoProducer to transcribe it to MIDI. You get an editable part on a new track, ready to play on Reese Bass, an 808 or any of the other bass presets.
