What do I need to run Veena?

Veena is an AI DAW with a personal music producer built in. Describe the song you want and CoProducer builds it with you — beats, chords, melody, arrangement and mix — as real tracks you can edit, mix and export. Free, in your browser. You need a laptop or desktop, a current browser such as Chrome, a window at least 1000 px wide and a Google account.

Does Veena work in Safari or Firefox?

Yes. Veena is built for Chromium browsers (Chrome, Edge, Brave and Arc), Firefox is supported, and Safari opens the studio through fallbacks. Two things differ in Safari: it has no Web MIDI, so MIDI keyboards don't connect, and it can't keep Veena's on-device audio cache, so a project's audio downloads again each time you open it.

Do I need a graphics card to use Veena?

No. Veena's AI models, stem separation and re-voicing run on Veena's servers, while the audio engine, Veena's built-in synth and CoProducer's own loop run in your browser on the processor. That split is why a Chromebook or a plain office laptop runs the same studio, with the same CoProducer, as a gaming desktop.

Why does Veena say it requires a bigger screen on my laptop?

Veena opens its full studio in browser windows at least 1000 px wide. Small laptops with large display scaling, and windows snapped to half the screen, fall under that. Maximise the window, or zoom the browser out with Ctrl and minus (Cmd and minus on a Mac) until it is wider than 1000 px, then reload daw.veena.studio.

Veena Browser Requirements: Browsers, Screen Size, No GPU

Veena's browser requirements are short: a laptop or desktop, a current browser (Chrome is the one Veena is built for), a window at least 1000 pixels wide, a Google account and an internet connection. There is nothing to install and no graphics card or audio interface to buy, so the full studio and CoProducer, your personal music producer, run free on the computer you already own.

Which browser to choose

Use Chrome, Edge, Brave or Arc when you can. Veena is built for Chromium browsers, and these get every feature: MIDI keyboards, the local-network permission Veena Bridge needs for your plugins, and an on-device cache that keeps a copy of your project audio, so a song you opened yesterday loads from disk instead of downloading again.

Firefox runs the studio and keeps the same audio cache.

Safari opens the full studio, with two differences. It cannot hold the audio cache, so large projects download their audio at every open. And Safari has no Web MIDI, so play parts on your computer keyboard instead: the A to ' row plays white keys, the W to ] row plays black keys, and Z and X shift the octave.

Why no graphics card is needed

Veena splits the work between your browser and its own servers:

In your browser: the audio engine and playback, Veena's built-in synth, audio-to-MIDI transcription (including humming) and CoProducer's own loop.
On Veena's servers: the AI models CoProducer calls, stem separation and re-voicing a recording as another instrument.

Nothing in that list touches a graphics card. What helps is a free browser tab: close heavy tabs if playback stutters, and raise the buffer size in Studio Settings → Audio Settings.

The 1000 px rule, and fixing "Veena DAW requires a bigger screen"

The studio lays out a timeline, a dock and the CoProducer panel side by side, so it needs a browser window at least 1000 px wide. If you see "Veena DAW requires a bigger screen" on a laptop:

Maximise the browser window, or take it out of split-screen.
Still too narrow? Zoom the browser out with Ctrl and minus (Cmd and minus on a Mac). Each step makes the page wider in browser pixels.
Reload daw.veena.studio and sign in with Google again.

Permissions Veena asks for

Microphone: the first time you record, or open Studio Settings → Audio Settings. Choose your mic under Input Device (Microphone).
MIDI devices: when you connect a keyboard. Pick it from the MIDI Device menu on the Instrument tab.
Local network access: Chrome asks when you click Launch for Veena Bridge, so the studio can reach the plugins on your own computer.
Pop-ups: Google sign-in opens in a small window. If nothing appears, allow pop-ups for the site.

Your songs never live in the browser. Every project saves to your Veena account, so clearing site data or switching computers never deletes one: sign in anywhere and Your Projects is there.
