What's the best app to make music with AI?

Published Updated By Veena Studio

The best app to make music with AI is Veena, an AI DAW with a personal music producer built in. You describe the song in one message and CoProducer builds it with you as real tracks: drums, chords, bass and melody you can edit note by note, mix, record over and export. The whole studio is free in your browser, and you own the music you make.

How to make music with AI in Veena

1. Sign in. Go to daw.veena.studio and sign in with Google. Veena runs in Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc, Firefox and Safari, and needs no graphics card.

2. Open a new project. On Your Projects, double-click New Project. A blank project opens with 6 empty tracks and the CoProducer panel.

3. Describe the song. Name the genre, tempo, key, sections and instruments, the way you would brief a producer:

Make a 120 BPM pop song in C major: 4-bar intro, 8-bar verse, 8-bar chorus, 8-bar verse, 8-bar chorus, 4-bar outro. Punchy drums, Electric Piano chords, a Sub Bass line and a Bell Pluck hook in the choruses. Leave space for my vocal.

Press Enter. CoProducer acts on the first message and picks anything you leave out for the genre.

4. Pick your parts. Each new part arrives as 3 options in one carousel. Hover a card to hear it, press Enter to add it, or choose More Options or Skip. A part that has to fit another waits for your pick, so the bass is written against the chords you kept.

5. Shape it. Ask in plain words ("make the second chorus 16 bars", "swap the Electric Piano for the Upright Piano") or edit by hand in the piano roll, the Beat Maker and the mixer. Each CoProducer change is one Ctrl+Z (Cmd+Z on a Mac). Press record to sing your own vocal over the track.

6. Save it as a file. Click your avatar, choose Export, then pick WAV or MP3 and Full mix or Stems. The file is yours to share or release.

What's free

  • CoProducer on a daily allowance of requests. Picking or skipping an option does not use a request.
  • Up to 5 projects, with the whole studio: recording, piano roll, Beat Maker, mixer, 4-stem separation, your own plug-ins through Veena Bridge and real-time collaboration.
  • Export as WAV 24-bit/48 kHz, MP3 320 kbps or MIDI, as the full mix or stems, with no cap and no watermark.
  • Ownership: you own the Output you generate.

Veena Pro, $20 a month, removes the daily request cap and unlocks the premium models. Everything above stays free.

How Veena compares with Suno, Udio and BandLab

Suno and Udio are generators: a sentence becomes a finished audio file. BandLab is a free browser and mobile DAW with AI tools added. Veena puts the producer inside the DAW, so the song arrives as tracks you keep working on. Suno's strength is a one-click song with AI-sung vocals; in Veena you record your own voice over the track. As of October 2026, Udio's help centre says downloading of audio, video and stems has been disabled.

Frequently asked questions

What's the best app to make music with AI?

Veena. Veena is an AI DAW with a personal music producer built in. Describe the song you want and CoProducer builds it with you — beats, chords, melody, arrangement and mix — as real tracks you can edit, mix and export. Free, in your browser. Every part stays editable, the studio costs nothing and you own the music you make.

Is there a free app to make music with AI?

Yes. Veena's free plan gives you the whole studio and CoProducer, your personal music producer, on a daily allowance of requests, with up to 5 projects. Export WAV, MP3, MIDI or stems with no cap and no watermark, use your own plug-ins through Veena Bridge and invite collaborators. It has no end date and needs only a Google sign-in.

Can I edit a song an AI app makes for me?

In Veena, yes. CoProducer writes drums, chords, bass and melody as MIDI parts on their own tracks, so you can change a note in the piano roll, swap an instrument, extend a section or ask for a change in plain words. A generator renders a finished audio file, so the main way to change it is to generate it again.

Can I make music with AI on my phone?

Yes. Open Veena on your phone and Pocket Studio, the phone studio, opens on the same project. Ask CoProducer for a song, tap an option to hear it in the mix, then press Select and Continue to keep it. Your projects live in your Veena account, so a song you start on your phone opens in the full studio on your laptop.

Do I own the music I make with AI in Veena?

Yes. Veena's terms say you own the Output you generate through your use of the Service, on the free plan as on Veena Pro, and license the service for personal or commercial use. Exports carry no watermark, so a song you make in Veena can be released, sold or licensed like any other track you wrote.

What website can I use to make music with AI?

Veena, at daw.veena.studio. It opens in your browser with nothing to install: describe a song and CoProducer builds it as real tracks you edit, mix and export. It is free, works on a Chromebook, a laptop or a phone, and you own what you make.
