Loudly Alternative: Keep Your Copyright and Your Earnings

Loudly keeps the copyright to every track it generates, lets you release only through its own distribution service, and under its licence "All earnings revert to Loudly upon cancellation of a Subscription Plan" (Loudly's licence agreement, 19 January 2026). Loudly sells itself as an "AI Music Platform for Creators". Read its pricing FAQ and licence agreement, both on loudly.com and read on 23 September 2026, and four questions decide whether it is a platform you can build a catalogue on.

Who owns a Loudly track?

Loudly does. The pricing FAQ puts it gently — "we simply retain the copyright while granting you generous commercial rights" — and the licence agreement puts it plainly: "Loudly retains all copyrights and neighboring rights in and to the Loudly Music Catalog and is the sole rights holder in respect of the Loudly Output."

Anything you bring in is licensed back, too. Upload your own audio and you grant Loudly "a worldwide, non-exclusive, fully paid-up, sublicensable … assignable, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable right and license" to use it and your projects "in connection with the provision, use, monetization, promotion, marketing, and improvement of our products and services".

Where can a Loudly track go?

Only where Loudly sends it. The licence grants the right to release Loudly Output "EXCLUSIVELY through Loudly's own Distribution service", and spells out the rest: "It is not permitted to release a Loudly Output via any external audio distribution companies such as, but not limited to – Ditto, Distrokid, CDBaby, Tunecore."

Three more limits follow in the same agreement:

• No Content ID: "it is not permitted to claim Content ID on YouTube for any Loudly Output".
• No TV, cinema or streaming services by default: TV broadcast, cinema and commercial video streaming services such as Netflix are "not permitted" without a separate deal.
• A monthly release quota: the pricing page lists "Distro Basic Included with all monthly payment plans … Release 20 tracks per month".

What happens when you stop paying?

The earnings stop being yours. Section 6.3: "The right to earn and receive payouts from audio streaming platforms, download sites, video sites ends when a Subscription Plan is cancelled. All earnings revert to Loudly upon cancellation of a Subscription Plan or failure to make payments for a Plan." A video you publish can be monetised "in perpetuity only if they have been completed and released, shared, published or displayed during the term of this agreement."

What does Loudly's free plan give you?

"0.5 minutes song previews", "1 download per day", "Basic quality MP3", "Non-commercial use", "No Distribution" and a "Basic License: For 1 social media channel". Full-length songs start with Personal at $10 a month ($8 billed yearly), capped at "7 minutes maximum song length"; Pro is $30 a month (Loudly's pricing page, September 2026).

What it costs you: a catalogue you never own, one distributor you can't leave, and earnings that go back to Loudly the day you stop paying.
