Beatoven Alternative: Score Your Video and Own the Music

Beatoven gives you background music it keeps: its terms make Beatoven "the copyright owner of Your AI Music", license you to use it only "in synchronization with your video, storybook, game, podcast or other audio-visual content", and rule out Spotify and Apple Music (Beatoven's terms and FAQ, September 2026). Five lines from Beatoven's own terms, and what they cost you

Beatoven's terms of use were last updated on 5 June 2024; its homepage and FAQ were read on 23 September 2026.

1. "Beatoven shall own and be the copyright owner of Your AI Music." Its FAQ says the same in plainer words: "Beatoven.ai will still be the owners of the tracks generated and downloaded from the ai music creator." You hold a licence; they hold the music.

2. "…in synchronization with your video, storybook, game, podcast or other audio-visual content." That is the whole licence. The track can sit under your video. It can't be sold as a file, and it can't be "performed or distributed via any digital service provider (e.g., Spotify, Apple Music, etc.)". The FAQ confirms: "We do not allow direct distribution of music created with beatoven.ai on music streaming platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music etc."

3. "Beatoven may license music to other Users that is the same or similar to Your AI Music." Your channel's theme is not yours alone, by contract.

4. "Music by Beatoven.ai". The terms ask you to display that credit "wherever practicable", directly in connection with your project.

5. The video you upload is licensed back. Submit "Your Content" — your video, podcast or game — and you grant Beatoven "a worldwide, non-exclusive, non-revokable, royalty-free, transferable and sub-licensable license in perpetuity" to use, adapt and redistribute it.

Two more things sit outside the terms. The site's own pricing link, beatoven.ai/pricing, returned "Page Not Found" on 23 September 2026, leaving only the homepage line "Pay per track or subscribe for additional download minutes." And the terms say the company "shall not be liable to refund any subscription fees paid".

What it costs you: a soundtrack licensed only for the content it sits under, which you can never release, may share with strangers, must credit, and pay for by the download minute.

Scoring a one-minute video in Veena, step by step

1. Drop the video in. Drag your MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV, M4V or AVI onto a track. Veena extracts the soundtrack so CoProducer can hear it, and Separate Audio on the video clip puts your voiceover on its own track.
2. Brief CoProducer in bars, not moods. At 100 BPM a bar of 4/4 lasts 2.4 seconds, so 24 bars is just under a minute. Paste the prompt at the end of this page, or write your own: genre, tempo, key, instruments, section lengths, and where the voiceover sits.
3. Pick the parts. Each new part arrives as 3 options: hover to preview, Enter to keep. Nothing that depends on a part is written until you pick it.
4. Fit it to the cut. Ask: "drop the drums out under the voiceover in bars 1 to 8", "make the lift start on bar 13", "end on a single hit at bar 24". CoProducer moves sections, adds dropouts and shortens parts, and one Ctrl+Z undoes anything you don't like.
5. Record the voiceover here too. Plug in a mic, calibrate the latency, and record straight into the project; CoProducer can build the music around the take.
6. Export what the edit needs. When the project contains video, Export offers MP4, so you download the finished cut with the score on it. Or export a 24-bit/48 kHz WAV of the mix and every track as a stem zip for your editor, as often as you like, with no watermark.
