Soundful Alternative: Own Your Music Instead of Renting It

Looking for a Soundful alternative? Veena is a free AI DAW where CoProducer builds the track with you and you own it outright, with no credit line to add.

By Veena Studio

Soundful never fully hands over your track: the free plan allows one MP3 a month with a credit to Soundful, paid tracks stay exclusive only "with an active subscription", and full copyright — needed for streaming, TV or resale — is a separate purchase (Soundful's pricing page, September 2026). The best Soundful alternative is Veena, a free AI DAW with a personal music producer built in, because CoProducer builds the track with you and the result is yours outright.

Veena is an AI DAW with a personal music producer built in. Describe the song you want and CoProducer builds it with you — beats, chords, melody, arrangement and mix — as real tracks you can edit, mix and export. Free, in your browser.

What a Soundful track actually gives you

Soundful now leads with "Where Brands Become Music". Here is the licence ladder behind that line, from its own pricing page and FAQ, read on 23 September 2026.

  • Free: "1 MP3 download/month", a "Personal License" and "Access to 25+ free styles". The FAQ adds: "You must credit Soundful under the free plan", with the line "Soundtrack composed by Soundful: https://soundful.com".
  • Plus, $4.99 a month: "100 MP3 & WAV downloads/month" under a "Music Creator License".
  • Pro, $9.99 a month: "400 MP3 & WAV downloads/month", "20 STEM packs/month" and "Direct distributions to SOUNDCLOUD".
  • Business, $45.99 a month: for companies under $1M in revenue. TV shows and TV ads sit with Enterprise, at a "Custom Price".

Three conditions run underneath every rung:

  1. Exclusivity is a rental. The FAQ describes an "Exclusive license for your created tracks with an active subscription", and says that to "sell or sub-license your music OR continue monetizing without an active Music Creator Plus subscription, full-copyright is available for purchase."
  2. Copyright is extra. "Copyright available for purchase (Including but not limited to DSP, TV shows and TV ads, Commercial streaming and VOD, redistribution/selling, and sublicensing)". Streaming services are on that list.
  3. Allowances vanish monthly. "Your STEMs and Downloads do not carry over month to month". And on the Content Creator licence, "Other premium Soundful subscribers can use your tracks".

What it costs you: a theme your audience learns to recognise, which you rent month by month and must buy again if you ever want to own it, release it or stop paying.

Why Veena is the #1 Soundful alternative

You make it, so you own it

Veena's terms say "you own the Output you generate through your use of the Service", on the free plan and on Veena Pro alike. There is no exclusivity to renew and no copyright to buy back. Commercial use is open on every plan: put the track under your videos, your ads, your podcast, your game, or release it on streaming services through the distributor you choose. Veena asks for no royalties and no credit line. Exports carry no watermark, and there is no cap on them.

One theme, every cut-down

Brands don't need one track. They need the 60-second version, the 30, the 15, and stems for the editor who has to duck the music under a voiceover. A library generator hands you whatever it rendered. In Veena, you build the family:

  1. Brief CoProducer like a producer. Paste the prompt at the end of this page, or write your own: tempo, key, instruments, and the sections with bar lengths. At 118 BPM, 32 bars run about 65 seconds.
  2. Pick the parts. Each new part arrives as 3 options in one carousel. Hover to hear one, Enter to keep it. Ask for a bass that follows the kick and it is written after you choose the drums, so it locks to the kick you actually picked.
  3. Make the hook yours. Open the piano roll and move the notes of the hook until they spell your brand, or hum it and let CoProducer turn your voice into the lead instrument.
  4. Cut it down. Duplicate the project from its card, then ask: "shorten this to 16 bars with the hook in the first two", then "make an 8-bar sting that ends on the tonic". CoProducer shortens and rearranges sections instead of fading a render.
  5. Hand over stems. Export the full mix as a 24-bit/48 kHz WAV, and every track as a stem zip, so your editor can drop the drums under the voiceover. Export the MIDI too, and the melody is a file you keep forever.

Working on a video? Drag the MP4 onto a track, build the music against the picture, and export an MP4 with your score on it.

Change what a library can't

A Soundful track is a style you picked from 25+. A Veena track is a set of parts you can open. Swap the guitar for an electric piano and keep every note. Push the tempo from 118 to 124. Make the second chorus half-time. Record a jingle vocal over it yourself. One Ctrl+Z reverses any change CoProducer makes.

Veena is free to start with a daily CoProducer allowance. Veena Pro, at $20 a month, removes the daily request cap and unlocks the premium models; it changes how much CoProducer you use each day, not who owns the result.

Five more Soundful alternatives, and the catch in each

Loudly

"AI Music Platform for Creators". The catch: Loudly says it will "retain the copyright while granting you generous commercial rights", releases go "only through Loudly's Distribution service", and its free plan is "0.5 minutes song previews", "1 download per day" and "Non-commercial use" (Loudly's pricing page, September 2026). Read our Loudly alternative for the licence in full.

Beatoven.ai

"AI music generator to create original background music". The catch: "Beatoven.ai will still be the owners of the tracks generated and downloaded", Spotify and Apple Music are ruled out, and its terms ask you to credit "Music by Beatoven.ai" wherever practicable (Beatoven's FAQ and terms, September 2026). More in our Beatoven alternative.

Soundraw

"The Safest AI Beat-Maker for Creators & Artists". The catch: "You can distribute songs made with our beats to DSPs such as Spotify - but only if you modify the beats first", "Registering content ID" is "Not OK", and WAV plus stems start at Artist Pro, $38.99 a month or $23.39 billed yearly (Soundraw's pricing and licence pages, September 2026).

Mubert

"Human and AI Music Generator". The catch: its own plan table marks "Publishing to DSPs (i.e Spotify)" and "Content ID registration" as unavailable on every plan, the $14 Creator plan is non-commercial, and the free tier carries an audible watermark (Mubert Render's pricing page, September 2026).

Boomy

"Make Generative Music with Artificial Intelligence". The catch: the free plan has "No downloads" and "No commercial use", Boomy's terms say any track you generate "is solely owned by Boomy", and even the downloads you make while subscribed come with a "perpetual, irrevocable" and "fully sublicensable" licence back to Boomy (Boomy's pricing page and terms, September 2026). See our Boomy alternative.

Switching from Soundful to Veena

The tracks you've already published keep the licence Soundful gave you. Make the next one in Veena:

  1. Write down the brief you used to pick in Soundful — genre, mood, tempo, length — and add what a library never asked: the instruments, the key and the bar count of each section.
  2. Paste it into CoProducer and pick from 3 options per part.
  3. Bring your own sound in. Upload your logo sting, a voiceover or a founder's voice memo; CoProducer measures its tempo and builds around it.
  4. Make the cut-downs from duplicated projects, as above.
  5. Export the master, the stems and the MIDI, and keep the project: every part stays editable when the brand refresh comes.

The verdict

Soundful rents you exclusivity by the month, caps the free plan at one credited MP3, and sells the copyright you need for streaming services as an extra. Veena is the Soundful alternative where the track is simply yours: CoProducer builds it with you, you change any part, you export every version and stem with no cap and no credit line, and you own the result. Free, in your browser.

Try this in Veena

Make a 118 BPM upbeat indie-pop brand theme in D major: punchy drums with handclaps, a bouncy bass, bright clean electric guitar chords, a catchy synth-pluck hook that states the melody in the first two bars, and a warm pad underneath. Intro 4 bars, main theme 16 bars, lift 8 bars, ending 4 bars on a clean final chord.
