Is Suno Studio Worth It If You Already Use a DAW?

Is Suno Studio worth it? For a producer who already knows a DAW, no: it costs $30 a month as part of Premier, it is "not compatible with VST or Audio Units plugins", and Suno's own help centre warns of new generations landing off the beat (September 2026). The question producers ask

One Reddit thread asks it in so many words: "So is suno studio worth it if you know how to use a daw?" It's the right question. Suno Studio 2.0, launched on 13 August 2026, is Suno's "browser-based generative DAW": MIDI tracks and a piano roll, a Wavetable synth, seven effects, automation, a chat bar that edits your project, and effects you design by describing them.

If you already produce, you own most of that. So the question is what the extra $30 a month buys, and what it takes away.

Is Suno Studio worth it? The ledger

Read the two workflow lines together. Suno's own FAQ answers "Can I use Studio with my existing DAW?" with: "Studio can complement an existing DAW by creating parts, samples, stems, and song ideas you can export or bring into your workflow." For someone who knows a DAW, then, Studio is $30 a month for generated parts that you finish somewhere else, with your plug-ins left at the door.

What Studio costs a working producer

The subscription is only the entry fee. Inside Studio, the work runs on credits:

• Premier's credits reset. 10,000 a month, and "Credits included in subscriptions do not carry over from day to day or month to month."
• Stems cost credits. Auto Split "uses 50 credits per extraction"; Split from Mix and Advanced Split use 10 credits per stem.
• MIDI from audio costs credits. Getting MIDI from a stem "costs 10 credits."
• Every generation is a double take. "Studio still provides two clips per generation", and you audition both.
• Top-ups need the subscription. Purchased credits "require an active subscription to use."

Then there's the timing warning. Suno's advice is to be "rigorous about checking the timing of your new generations", with the metronome on and the part soloed. That is editing time a producer pays for twice: once in credits, once in hours. More on that in the Suno Studio timing problem.

If you've never used a DAW

Suno's help centre says you don't need production experience for Studio. You do need Premier, at $30 a month, before you can open it.

The free way to learn a DAW is to have a producer build the first song with you. In Veena, CoProducer writes the parts on a real timeline while you watch which track holds what, then you change one thing at a time in plain words. • Recording that lines up. Mic input with volume and latency calibration, count-in, and a MIDI keyboard through Web MIDI.
• Stems at no cost. Right-click any clip of yours and choose Separate into Stems: vocals, drums, bass and other, aligned on new tracks.
• Exports with no cap. WAV 24-bit/48 kHz, MP3 320 kbps, MIDI, the full mix or every track in one zip, on every plan, with no watermark on your exports.
