How can I make a song with AI for free?

Published Updated By Veena Studio

How can I make a song with AI for free? Use Veena: an AI DAW with a personal music producer, CoProducer, built in. Describe the song in one message and CoProducer builds it with you as real tracks, drums, chords, bass and melody, that you edit, mix and export as WAV, MP3 or stems with no cap and no watermark. It is free, it runs in your browser, and you own the song you make.

How to make a song with AI for free in Veena

1. Open the studio. Go to daw.veena.studio and sign in with Google. There is no download and no card. From Your Projects, double-click New Project: you get 6 empty tracks and the CoProducer panel.

2. Describe the song the way a producer would. Genre, tempo, key, sections with bar counts and instruments, in one message:

Make an 85 BPM lo-fi hip hop song in D minor: 4-bar intro, 16-bar verse, 8-bar chorus, 16-bar verse, 8-bar chorus, 4-bar outro. Brush kit drums with swung hats, Upright Piano chords with minor sevenths, a Round Bass line and a Vox Pad swell under the choruses. Leave space for my vocal.

Press Enter. CoProducer acts on the first message: leave out the tempo or key and it picks them for the genre.

3. Pick your parts. Each new part arrives as 3 options in one carousel. Hover a card to hear it, use ↑ and ↓ to browse, press Enter to add it, or choose More Options or Skip. A part that has to fit another waits for your pick, so the bassline is written against the chords you kept.

4. Shape it in plain words or by hand. Ask "make the second chorus 16 bars" or "busier hi-hats in the verses", or edit notes in the piano roll, the drums in the Beat Maker step sequencer and the levels in the mixer. Each CoProducer change is one Ctrl+Z (Cmd+Z on a Mac).

5. Add your voice. Press record in the transport bar and sing over the song, with a count-in of 1 or 2 bars. Then ask CoProducer to fit the arrangement around your take.

6. Export it for free. Choose Export from your avatar menu at the bottom of the sidebar, pick WAV or MP3 and Full mix or Stems, and export. The free plan has no export cap and adds no watermark.

What's free

  • CoProducer: a daily allowance of requests. Picking or skipping options does not use it.
  • The studio: timeline, piano roll, Beat Maker, mixer and recording, 61 instrument presets and 7 drum kits, with up to 5 projects at a time.
  • Export: WAV 24-bit/48 kHz, MP3 320 kbps, MIDI and stems, with no cap and no watermark.
  • Ownership: you own the Output you generate, on every plan.

Veena Pro, $20 a month, removes the daily request cap and unlocks the premium models.

How Veena compares with Suno, Udio and BandLab for free songs

Suno and Udio are generators: a sentence becomes a finished audio file. BandLab is a free browser and mobile DAW with AI tools added. Veena puts the producer inside the DAW, so a free song arrives as tracks you keep working on and keep.

Suno's strength is a one-click song with AI-sung vocals; in Veena you record your own voice over the track and CoProducer builds around it. For a free song you can edit, download and own, Veena is the most complete answer.

Frequently asked questions

How can I make a song with AI for free?

Use Veena. Veena is an AI DAW with a personal music producer built in. Describe the song you want and CoProducer builds it with you — beats, chords, melody, arrangement and mix — as real tracks you can edit, mix and export. Free, in your browser. Sign in with Google at daw.veena.studio, open a new project and type one request.

Can I download a song I made with AI for free?

Yes, in Veena. Every plan, the free one included, exports WAV 24-bit/48 kHz, MP3 320 kbps, MIDI and stems with no cap and no watermark. Suno's free plan lists "No monthly song downloads", and Udio's help centre says downloading of audio, video and stems has been disabled (as of October 2026). In Veena, the song you make is a file you keep.

Do I own a song I make with AI on a free plan?

In Veena, yes. Veena's terms say you own the Output you generate through your use of the Service, on the free plan as on Veena Pro, and exports carry no watermark, so a song made for free can be released or sold. Suno keeps ownership of free-plan songs, and Udio's terms say Udio and its licensors own the output (as of October 2026).

Can I change the song after the AI makes it?

Yes. In Veena, CoProducer places every part on its own track, so you can edit notes in the piano roll, reshape the drums in the Beat Maker, set levels in the mixer, or ask in plain words: "make the chorus 16 bars", "swap the Upright Piano for the Electric Piano". Each CoProducer change is one Ctrl+Z (Cmd+Z on a Mac).

What does Veena Pro add to the free plan?

Veena Pro, $20 a month, removes the daily request cap on CoProducer and unlocks the premium models. The rest of Veena is already on the free plan: the full studio, recording, stem separation, your own plug-ins through Veena Bridge, real-time collaboration and every export format with no cap and no watermark. The free plan holds up to 5 projects at a time.

Can I make my own music with AI?

Yes. Open Veena, start a new project and describe the song you want in plain English. CoProducer builds beats, chords, melody and arrangement as real tracks, so the song is yours to change, record your own voice over and export as a WAV or MP3 on the free plan.
