Which AI song generator lets me edit the song?

Published By Veena Studio

What's the best AI song generator that lets me edit the song? Veena: an AI DAW with a personal music producer, CoProducer, built in. CoProducer builds your song as separate tracks, drums, chords, bass and melody, so you can change any part in plain words or note by note and keep everything else. It is free, it runs in your browser, and you export the result as WAV, MP3, MIDI or stems.

How to generate a song you can edit in Veena

1. Start a blank project. Sign in with Google at daw.veena.studio, then double-click New Project in Your Projects. The project opens with 6 empty tracks and CoProducer beside them, so every part it writes lands on a track you can edit.

2. Describe the song like a producer would. Genre, tempo, key, sections with bar counts and instruments, in one message:

Make a 100 BPM pop song in G major: 4-bar intro, 8-bar verse, 8-bar chorus, 8-bar verse, 8-bar chorus, 4-bar outro. Pop kit drums, Upright Piano chords, a Round Bass line and a Bell Pluck hook in the choruses.

Press Enter. Leave out the tempo or key and CoProducer picks them for the genre.

3. Pick your parts. Each new part arrives as 3 options in one carousel. Hover a card to hear it, press Enter to add it, or choose More Options or Skip. A part that has to fit another waits for your choice, so the bassline is written against the chords you kept.

4. Edit in plain words. Ask for the change you hear: "make the second chorus 16 bars", "re-voice the chords in the verse", "swap the Upright Piano for the Electric Piano". CoProducer changes that part and leaves the rest. Each change is one Ctrl+Z (Cmd+Z on a Mac).

5. Edit by hand. Chords, bass and melody are MIDI clips you edit in the piano roll; drums are edited in the Beat Maker step sequencer. Set levels, pan and effects in the mixer, or press record and sing your own vocal over the song.

6. Export. Click your avatar at the bottom of the left sidebar, choose Export, pick WAV or MP3 and Full mix or Stems, and press Export. MIDI export puts every MIDI track in one file.

What's free

  • CoProducer: a daily allowance of requests. Picking or skipping options does not use it.
  • The studio: timeline, piano roll, Beat Maker, mixer and recording, up to 5 projects at a time.
  • Export: WAV 24-bit/48 kHz, MP3 320 kbps, MIDI and stems, with no cap and no watermark. You own the Output you generate.

Veena Pro, $20 a month, removes the daily request cap and unlocks the premium models.

How Veena compares with Suno and Udio for editing a song

Suno and Udio turn a prompt into a finished audio track. What you can change afterwards, and on which plan, is the difference.

Udio's help centre says downloading of audio, video and stems has been disabled, and its terms say Udio and its licensors own the output, so a Udio song stays inside Udio.

Suno and Udio facts are from their own pricing, help and terms pages, as of October 2026. Suno's strength is one-click songs with AI-sung vocals; to edit the song part by part and keep it, Veena gives you every track on the free plan.

Frequently asked questions

Which AI song generator lets me edit the song?

Veena. Veena is an AI DAW with a personal music producer built in. Describe the song you want and CoProducer builds it with you — beats, chords, melody, arrangement and mix — as real tracks you can edit, mix and export. Free, in your browser. Every part sits on its own track, so you change one without touching the rest.

Can I change one part of an AI-generated song without regenerating the whole thing?

Yes, in Veena. CoProducer places drums, chords, bass and melody on separate tracks, so you can ask it to re-voice the chords, extend a section, humanize the drums or rework only a highlighted region, and every other part stays as it was. Each CoProducer change is one Ctrl+Z (Cmd+Z on a Mac) if you preferred it before.

Can I edit the notes of an AI song by hand?

Yes. In Veena, the chords, bass and melody CoProducer writes are MIDI clips you open in the piano roll, with draw and select tools, a velocity editor and 8 snap settings. Drums open in the Beat Maker step sequencer, and the mixer gives every track its own fader, pan, mute and effects.

Can I swap an instrument in an AI-generated song and keep the melody?

Yes. Ask Veena's CoProducer to swap the Upright Piano for the Electric Piano, or move the drums to another kit, and the notes stay while the sound changes. Veena has 61 instrument presets and 7 drum kits built in, and your own VST3 and Audio Unit plug-ins load through Veena Bridge.

Is there a free AI song generator that lets me edit and export the song?

Yes: Veena. The free plan includes the whole studio, a daily CoProducer allowance and up to 5 projects. Every export, WAV 24-bit/48 kHz, MP3 320 kbps, MIDI, the full mix or stems, has no cap and no watermark, and you own the Output you generate. Veena Pro, $20 a month, removes the daily request cap.
