Where Soundtrap's free plan stops

Soundtrap's pricing page lists four paid plans at US$11.99, US$16.99, US$16.99 and US$20.99 a month, or US$115.08 to US$199.08 a year, and a free plan with "Essential effects" (Soundtrap's pricing page, September 2026). Its support centre spells out what the free plan leaves out:

• WAV is paid. "WAV downloads (or high quality downloads) are only available on Music Production, Production & Vocals, and Vocals & songwriting." That leaves free accounts, and even Sound Starter at US$11.99 a month, on MP3 or OGG.
• MIDI export is paid. "Export as MIDI file is only available for Sound Starter, Music Production, Vocals & Songwriting and Production & Vocals subscriptions."
• Vocal tuning is paid. "Standard Vocal Tuner is available on all paid plans", and the Realtime Vocal Tuner "is only available with the Vocals & Songwriting or Production & Vocals plans."
• Stems are top-plan only. The Stem Splitter "is only available on Production & Vocals", US$20.99 a month, and "can support audio up to 10 minutes long."
• The library shrinks when you stop paying. When a subscription or trial ends, "you will lose access to paid features available for paid accounts such as but not limited to some loops, effects, instruments and Time Restore."

Veena puts the first four on the free plan: WAV at 24-bit/48 kHz, MP3 at 320 kbps and MIDI, every track as stems, 4-stem separation, and a built-in Auto-Tune effect with key, scale, amount and style. Its 61 instrument presets, 7 drum kits and 10 built-in effects are free as well, so none of them disappears when a plan ends, and your own plug-ins load on the free plan too. The free plan meters one resource, CoProducer, with a daily allowance, and keeps up to 5 projects. Veena Pro, at $20 a month, removes the daily request cap and unlocks the premium models.

Soundtrap's own pages describe its assistance one lane at a time. In Veena, that box is where you start. Type the R&B prompt at the bottom of this page, "Make a 92 BPM R&B ballad in Ab major with room for my vocal…", and CoProducer sets 92 BPM and Ab major, maps the sections with their bar counts, and starts writing. Drums, electric piano, sub bass and strings arrive as separate tracks, each offered as three options you audition before you pick. A part that has to fit another, like a bass that follows the chords, waits for the one you picked and reads its actual notes, so it moves with the changes you are hearing.

Then you steer in plain words: "open up the strings in the second chorus", "turn the rimshot into a clap for the bridge", "strip the first four bars of verse two down to keys". CoProducer sets levels, pan and effects as it goes, and ends every run by saying what it delivered and anything it skipped, read from what is actually on your timeline. Built around your voice, on the free plan

Soundtrap sells a plan around vocals, Vocals & Songwriting at US$16.99 a month, and its free card lists no vocal tuner and no Vocal Cleanup. Veena builds around your voice on every plan:

• Record from your mic with a count-in, latency calibration and loop recording that keeps the last complete pass, and a red box that shows where the take will land.
• Tune with the built-in Auto-Tune effect, set to your key and scale.
• Hum an idea and CoProducer turns it into a saxophone, a synth pad or a piano part, or into editable MIDI on a new track. That's voice to instrument.
• Build around the take. Drop in a voice memo or a demo and CoProducer measures its tempo and maps where your syllables land before it writes; every new part follows your phrasing.

1. Export the song. In Soundtrap's studio, choose File > Export and pick a format. On a free account that's MP3 or OGG; WAV needs one of the three plans from US$16.99 a month.
2. Export the parts. Each track's ⋯ menu > Export gives you that track on its own, with or without its effects.
3. Get your MIDI back. Soundtrap exports MIDI only on paid plans. If yours can't, import the audio of a melody or bassline into Veena and ask CoProducer to transcribe it into an editable MIDI part.
