Meta's Muse, launched on 8 September 2026, is a personal AI agent for tasks like booking travel, and its announcement never mentions music. muse.art is a MIDI composer that writes notes for your DAW. Meta's Muse: an agent for errands, not songs

Meta launched Muse on 8 September 2026 under the headline "Introducing Muse: The World's First Personal AI Agent Built for Everyone." In Meta's words: "Muse is a personal AI agent. It doesn't just answer questions, it actually does the work." Its examples are chores: "sending an email or booking travel", selling a car for more, lowering a bill, turning a saved recipe reel into a grocery list.

The facts from Meta's post:

• It runs on "Muse Secure VM", a dedicated cloud computer with its own browser, and is powered by Muse Spark, which Meta calls its "most capable model to date".
• You talk to it in the Muse app or directly in WhatsApp.
• It is "rolling out in the US on iOS, Android, and muse.ai", and it is "free for most of what people need, with subscription plans for people who want to do more."

What it means for making music: nothing yet. Meta's post does not mention music, songs or audio once. If you searched "Muse" hoping Meta had launched a music AI this month, the Muse it launched is not one.

muse.art: a MIDI composer that hands the song to another DAW

muse.art is Musai Labs' product, and it calls itself "The AI-native MIDI composer". Its pricing FAQ describes "a multi-track MIDI editor with a deeply integrated AI agent." You type an idea, choose a model, and it writes MIDI tracks you edit in a piano roll. Here is what that costs a musician, from muse.art's own pages:

• The record gets finished elsewhere. The homepage tells you to "export to your favorite DAW", and to drag tracks into it. Vocals, mixing and mastering happen in a second program.
• Free means loops. The free plan lists "Generate and edit MIDI loops with AI" and "Limited agent credits", about 5 a day on average. "Compose full song arrangements with AI" appears only under Pro.
• Commercial use costs $15 a month. "Export for commercial use" is a Pro feature, at $15 a month or $12 billed yearly, with 200 credits a month and boost packs from $5 for 50 credits.

Muse AI music vs a studio that finishes the song

Neither Muse hands you a finished record. Meta's does not make music at all. muse.art writes the notes, then points you at another DAW for the sound, the vocal, the mix and the master, and saves full arrangements for its paid plan.
