Your first session in Veena, click by click
- Open daw.veena.studio and sign in with Google. A new project opens with six empty tracks, the transport bar across the top and the CoProducer panel beside the timeline.
- Type the song. Name a genre, a tempo, a key and the instruments you hear; the synth-pop prompt at the bottom of this page is a strong first one. CoProducer writes a short plan (sections, bar lengths, which layers play where) and a to-do strip counts off the steps.
- Choose your parts. Each new part arrives as 3 options in one carousel: hover to preview, ↑ and ↓ to browse, Enter to keep one. Parts that depend on it wait for your pick, so the bass line is written against the chords you actually chose.
- Listen, then look inside. Press Space. Double-click the chord clip, drag one note up a step and play it again. Ctrl/Cmd+↑ moves a selected note up an octave.
- Direct it in plain words. "Make the drums half-time in the second verse." "Swap the Warm Pad for Electric Piano." "Add a 4-bar break before the last chorus." Every CoProducer change is one Ctrl/Cmd+Z away.
- Export. From the account menu: a 24-bit/48 kHz WAV or a 320 kbps MP3 of the mix, every track as stems in a zip, or the MIDI. No watermark and no cap.
Describe a song like a producer
Beginners type a vibe; producers type a spec, and the spec wins. In Veena's own data, users who type their own first request get a first result on day one 64% of the time, against 56% for users who click a suggestion. Yet only 9.4% of first requests give a BPM, and only about 3% name an artist. Give CoProducer the numbers and you are already ahead.

GarageBand is free only if you already own Apple hardware: the current Mac App Store build requires macOS 15.6 or later (Mac App Store listing, September 2026), and there is no Windows, Android, Chromebook or browser version. Drummer keeps time; the chords, bass, melody and arrangement are still yours to find alone, and growing past it means paying for Logic Pro.
FL Studio sells Fruity Edition at $99 with "no audio recording, no stem separation", and its own pricing page says "Most new producers choose Producer Edition", the $179 one (FL Studio's pricing page, September 2026). The free trial exports, but "you're not able to re-open saved projects" until you pay (FL Studio's download page, September 2026), and learning to produce is mostly reopening yesterday's song.
Ableton Live 12 Intro costs USD 99 and stops at 16 tracks, and the MIDI Generators that suggest ideas start in Standard at USD 349 (Ableton's shop and edition comparison, September 2026). Its 30-day trial ends with "you will no longer be able to save or export your work" (Ableton's trial page, September 2026).
Logic Pro costs $199.99, or $12.99 a month through Apple Creator Studio, and "requires macOS 15.6 or later and a Mac with Apple silicon" (Apple's Logic Pro page and support note, September 2026). Its Session Players play inside a song you are still assembling by hand, and a beginner on a Windows laptop or a Chromebook can't open it at all.
