What is audio to MIDI?
Audio to MIDI converts a recording — a hummed melody, a guitar riff, a piano take — into MIDI notes that any instrument can play and you can edit. How the conversion works
The software listens for three things: pitch, the note being sung or played at each moment; onsets, where each note begins; and level, which becomes each note's velocity. It writes them out as MIDI events, each with a note, a start, a length and a velocity. A single voice or instrument converts most reliably, because every note stands alone; dense chords and full mixes are harder, which is why separating stems first helps.
What is audio to MIDI good for?
