Three kinds of music editor
Notation editors change the score: you move noteheads on a staff and the computer plays them back. Audio editors change the waveform: you cut, trim and fade a recording, but the notes inside it are baked in. Veena changes the song. Every part is its own track, every MIDI note can move, every sound can be swapped, and the arrangement bends like a document. That is why a bass line in Veena can change key, rhythm and instrument without anyone re-recording it.

Edit a song you already have
Veena is built for your own music, the demo from last year, a bounce from an old project, a rehearsal recording. Bring it in and take it apart:
- Import it. Drag in any of 13 audio formats, from WAV, MP3 and FLAC to AIFF and M4A, or a MIDI file, which lands as one clip per MIDI track. The first clip you import sets the project's tempo.
- Split it. Right-click and choose Separate into Stems: vocals, drums, bass and other arrive on their own tracks, lined up with the original, in about 45 to 120 seconds for a full song.
- Get the notes out. Ask CoProducer to transcribe the bass or a melody into MIDI, and an editable part appears on a new track.
- Change what you like. Rewrite the bass line, ask CoProducer for new drums on the TR909 kit, add a String Ensemble under the chorus, or ask for a new bridge that fits the song's actual chords.
- Export the new version as a mix, as stems or as MIDI.

Why a music editor should understand the music
An editor that only sees shapes can't tell you why the chorus feels flat. CoProducer reads before it edits: the notes and chords, where the sections fall, the tempo grid, the loudness and the spectrum of the mix. Ask for "a bass that locks with the kick" and it reads where the kick actually lands. And it reports honestly: every reply lists what it changed and what it skipped, and one undo reverses the whole change.

MuseScore Studio is "free and easy to use music notation software" for Windows, Mac and Linux: "Create, play back and print beautiful sheet music" (MuseScore's site, September 2026). It is a download that edits the page, with no producer to build the recording around your score.
Flat runs in the browser, but its free Basic plan is "Limited to 15 scores" with 30 instruments, and exports and prints carry "the Flat logo" (Flat's pricing page, September 2026).
VEED's online audio editor lets free users "trim clips, adjust volume, and make basic edits", with noise removal as an upgrade, and "No watermark" is listed as a feature of its Creator plan at $12 a month billed yearly (VEED's audio editor and pricing pages, September 2026). It cuts audio; it doesn't change the notes inside it.

Can I change one instrument without redoing the whole song?
Yes. In Veena every MIDI part keeps its notes when you change its sound, so the piano part can become Electric Piano, strings or one of your own plug-ins in one step, by hand or by asking CoProducer. For audio, CoProducer re-voices a take as another instrument, or you split the song into stems and replace just one.
Can I edit the parts CoProducer writes?
Every one of them. CoProducer writes real MIDI parts, so double-clicking a clip opens it in Veena's piano roll: draw or select notes, change velocities, snap to bars, beats or fractions down to an eighth of a beat, and move notes by octaves with Ctrl/Cmd and the arrow keys. Each change CoProducer makes is also one Ctrl/Cmd+Z away.
Is Veena's music editor free?
Yes. Veena's free plan includes the piano roll, the audio tools, 4-stem separation, the mixer and effects, real-time collaboration, and exports with no cap or watermark, plus a daily CoProducer allowance for edits you ask for in words. Veena Pro, $20 a month, removes the daily request cap and unlocks the premium models.
What can I export after editing?
From Veena's account menu, choose Export: a 24-bit/48 kHz WAV or 320 kbps MP3 of the full mix, every track as its own stem in a zip, the MIDI of every MIDI part in one file, or an MP4 when the project has video. Veena shows the files, their quality and size before it exports, as often as you like.
